Executive Director
Catherine Lewis is a long-time resident of the Woodbine neighborhood. She has always loved participating in or facilitating opportunities to meet neighbors and develop community. With over a decade of experience in educating diverse learners, she is always planning events through an educational lens and prioritizes building relationships in programming. “I love to help people learn that things are more possible than they thought. Don’t think you can garden? Let me introduce you to Celia. She probably has some seeds in her pocket she can teach you to grow. Don’t think you can paint? Let me introduce you to Ruben. He is in the middle of painting a mural and would love community involvement. Not sure you can learn a new language? Meet Becca, our language school director who needs an English speaker to help one of her students practice in a social setting. We have a wealth of resources all around us and I am inspired by this community daily.” Catherine can be found working in one of our gardens, experimenting and getting curious about what grows well and why, or in the office at our partner church WUMC doing behind the scenes organizational tasks. Wherever she is, yes she wants to stop what she’s doing and get coffee with you!

Celia has a strong connection with God’s creation. For Celia working in the garden is more than a chore; but is a place where she finds joy and peace and connects spiritually with nature. Celia is passionate about opening spaces for people to come together and get their hands dirty as they seed, clean, and harvest. She is a wonderful mentor and teacher for her children and many others living in the Woodbine neighborhood. She loves her community and always strives to be kind and graceful to everyone. Celia’s wisdom, hard work, and friendly spirit have enabled Cosecha Community Development to make a difference.
